Grinder fodder
I fight for glory
upon the fields of war and
my name will live for-
I fight for glory
upon the fields of war and
my name will live for-
My arcane power
humbles our enemies with
blasts of pure magick.
I summon fireballs to
scorch my enemies
and char the earth beneath them.
I command winter
and pull her icy fragments
down from the heavens.
The only things I fear are
the attentions of my foes.
I draw my blade and bear my shield;
my stance, I vow, shall never yield.
I’ll bear the brunt of all the blows
from all of our maleficent foes.
And when defeat is close at hand,
that’s when I’ll make my final stand.
Oh, the bloodlust and the joy
as I charge in shouting, “Leroy!”
Their world fell down around them
into ruins of rust and dusty dumps
filled with the former fads of fiscal fools
and the fruits of the fallen.
I search through this cyber cemetery,
with a cheerful song on my lips,
for the material means
to make a heaven of hell.
Exhaustion pulls the sky down low
beyond where even the raindrops go
until the dark swallows the light
and you go out blazing into that good night…
Blacker than the dragon’s scales,
whiter than the creatures nails,
stronger than it’s lengthy stride,
but just as fragile on the inside.
Though we’ve claimed to tame
the rebellious flame,
are we really that strong?
Are we really not wrong?
And we carve our names into the stone
as though we somehow could have known
how long we would rule…
Lord, we were such fools.
From dust we’re born
and to dust we’ll die,
though we lord o’ the oceans
and command the vast skies.
Been a while since I’ve done one of these. Here’s where I’m at right now:
– I’ve been working on a collaborative project with a local artist that we plan to publish once we finish. The goal for this is to have all the content produced within the next 4 months and hopefully the product available in the month following.
– One of the businesses that I was selling copies of my book closed and I now have 3 additional first editions available for purchase. I have numbers 13, 14, 15, and 32 available from the first printing as well as several second eds. Please send me a message if you’re interested in one.
– I’ve been a little down lately and more than a little sick. I’ll try and throw some sunshine and rainbows into my work over the next few weeks 😉
I’m quite the curmudgeon
with a stare that scares the stars
and a tongue like a cat o’ nine tails.
My breath’s a balmy bludgeon,
my wink’s a flower witherer.
I’ve the swagger of a shark,
the moxie of a mule,
and my pitch-black boots
are made of old leather belts
weathered by years
of corporal punishment.
Disease ravages –
my weakened self falters, though
hot soup defends me.
