Evening Elation

Sudden surprises
the sun rises even though
the night has fallen.

The little poisons
creep in so quietly that
we can’t feel the death.

The die is cast,
its face unknown;
behold all the hopes
in this little stone.

Today’s pale grey sky
offers not a shred of hope
under mute colors.

There are
some things for which
“inconsolable” can’t
begin to state the depth of my
feelings.

I can feel the rain
as it creeps ever closer
to my clouded heart.

It is where I watch
all the could be’s and may be’s
before they just are.

Children
grow up so fast
and before we know it
our boys and girls have all become
adults.

Children
dance in the rain
in a bubbling world
where every moment is to be
enjoyed.

River
Your cold, crisp stream
Flowing toward the sea
And rapidly picking up speed
Waterfall
