Introspective search
She’s drawn to people
searching for something in them
she already had.
She’s drawn to people
searching for something in them
she already had.
The twists and turns of the maze
leave you lost and in a daze
but just when you think you’re going to win
you have to start all over again.
Morning
Wake up, breakfast
Try to get some work done
Go to the gym, work out, shower
Lunch time
Try to focus and do more work
Take a break for dinner
Wind down, relax
Then bed.
The strangeness of it
washed away with the night tide
and was forgotten.
Sweeping up the dust
and emptying it into boxes
alongside trophies and wedding pictures,
memorabilia and regalia.
Ah, my love…
When you’re not lying there like a wet black noodle,
you’re bouncing about like pink French poodle
or you’re staring up with those big, sad eyes…
How long will it take until you realize
that we weren’t put here just for you –
we have other people we need to pay attention to!
Toys for tots and baseball cards,
broken hearts and battle scars,
wedding rings and sordid trysts,
abandoned dreams and bucket lists.
Of all of the words,
those they left unsaid echoed
loudest of them all.
Open up your mind
to the possibility
that you might be wrong.
Sorrow
is elusive:
one minute you feel fine,
then the rain blows in and drowns out
the sun.
