coffee,
tea and biscuits,
dinner and a movie,
long kisses under the moonlight,
the bed.
Dark skies
and heavy air…
A storm is rolling in
and I am helpless beneath the
thunder.
The sound of pebbles
embracing and wishing to
be mountains once more.

scorches summer nights
and leaf-green lovers
sputter out of gear.

ruin friendships
with their slips.

your calloused hands
with their wrinkles and scars
like a gnarled old oak tree who
survived.
Bit by bit
the world falls.
Then winter comes
and frosts the roots.
