Packing up
Sweeping up the dust
and emptying it into boxes
alongside trophies and wedding pictures,
memorabilia and regalia.
Ah, my love…
Sweeping up the dust
and emptying it into boxes
alongside trophies and wedding pictures,
memorabilia and regalia.
Ah, my love…
When you’re not lying there like a wet black noodle,
you’re bouncing about like pink French poodle
or you’re staring up with those big, sad eyes…
How long will it take until you realize
that we weren’t put here just for you –
we have other people we need to pay attention to!
Toys for tots and baseball cards,
broken hearts and battle scars,
wedding rings and sordid trysts,
abandoned dreams and bucket lists.
Of all of the words,
those they left unsaid echoed
loudest of them all.
Open up your mind
to the possibility
that you might be wrong.
Sorrow
is elusive:
one minute you feel fine,
then the rain blows in and drowns out
the sun.
A seed, planted in fertile soil,
grows roots and reaches for the heavens,
swells with knowledge,
and dispenses wisdom.
coffee,
tea and biscuits,
dinner and a movie,
long kisses under the moonlight,
the bed.
Dark skies
and heavy air…
A storm is rolling in
and I am helpless beneath the
thunder.
The sound of pebbles
embracing and wishing to
be mountains once more.
