I’m troubled by a fear.

Sighingly, I choose to return
and spend that coin on love I’ve earned.

There’s nothing better
than the cool shade of a tree
under a hot sun.
The words I’m not brave enough to say
I want to walk the burning miles
and face all the bitter trials
with you at my side
as we take the long years in stride
and conquer them in style.
