My light will never fade away –
it will stand for centuries:
strong, secure, and sentinel.
My heart will never burn out –
the fire in that furnace is fierce
in the face of confrontation.
My body will never remain broken –
for all the knaves that knocked me down,
who thought they knew me on my knees,
could not see the knight in me
who will never give up.
I do not know what tomorrow will bring –
every day is a gift to be unwrapped,
every morning another Christmas,
every night another opportunity
to fantasize of gifts to come.
And some mornings when we awaken,
we are greeted by storms,
drama, and misunderstandings.
Other days we rise to see a clear blue sky
extending for miles past the horizon.
Do not fear the coming storms,
the heated emotions, or twisted words.
Do not let the fear of what may be
poison the joy of what could be
waiting on the far side of the horizon.
Tomorrow may be a blessing,
or it could be a curse,
and whether we laugh in the rain,
or weep in the midday sun
is our most important choice –
and the true present of the coming day.
It is so hot – I cannot breathe.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
I fall to my knees;
It is so hot – I cannot breathe.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
God must be crying.
I fall to my knees;
It is so hot – I cannot breathe.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
Heaven is streaked with starlight tears –
I can hear God crying.
I fall to my knees;
It is so hot – I cannot breathe.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
I cannot hear God anymore.
I fall to my knees;
It is so hot.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
I fall to my knees;
I cannot breathe.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
I can’t feel anything anymore.
Summer is in the air,
and the sky is falling.
Here I lie:
broken, silenced,
breathless, faithless,
beneath the fallen sky.
